Learning Arabic to fight for Human Rights
𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗰 !
After 10 years thinking about it, I finally started learning arabic two months ago.
I am very happy with the progress I´m making thanks to my amazing teacher Haya Saif, from Syria, that is now joining the team, and starting this week I will be studying more than 4 hours per day until I am able to speak it fluently.
It is such a beautiful language but I have to say so far it seems to me clearly more difficult than chinese... at least grammar wise.
A lof of friends have asked me why do I want to learn it. First of all, there are more than 𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 that speak the language coming from 𝟮𝟱 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀.
Second, it has been one of my goals to speak, what I consider to be, the world´s most relevant 5 languages (𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵, 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵, 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲, 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗰, not necesarily in that order)
Third, learning about a 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 and a new language allows you to gain so much perspective, to better understand, connect and collaborate with people.
Lastly, as we all know, besides the 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 the arab markets are bringing to the world, there are, also, many 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 that are affecting or somehow related with the arab speaking population.
I want to be able to participate in conflict prevention and resolution, cooperation and 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 advocacy in the region, and I believe it is vital to speak the language to be effective, to provide more value and to build bridges with the rest of the world.
I hope I am ready for #DubaiExpo2020, either way, I am learning so much that the journey is already incredibly valuable.
This video is from an interview in Egypt. Unfortunately I could not do it in arabic. I hope one day soon I can share with you a live interview speaking it.
